Why Bruno’s Bracket is in Last Place

    March 29th, 2011

Bears trump Aztecs (obviously) and Owls just barely edge out Nittany Lions. It’s how I would do a bracket as I am sublimely ignorant when it comes to college hoops.

    Leashes?

    March 25th, 2011

I just read this post on the NY Times parenting blog, Motherlode.

    http://parenting.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/24/are-leashes-for-children/

I understand that back pack “leashes” make people feel uncomfortable for all the reasons Goldberg mentions. I also know that when my son sits for too long, in the stroller or the car, he doesn’t expend enough energy and is impossible to handle later in the day. I don’t own a back pack restraint, for what it’s worth, but I’ve never taken the boy to a theme park. He loves to run and doesn’t understand, no matter how many times I tell him (and I’ve told him dozens of times), you can’t run away from mommy or daddy. Also, I don’t want him to be still. He has energy in spades and I like that he wants to be active. “Let’s Move!” right?

I guess it all comes down to people judging parents for their decisions even when they have child health (exercise!) and safety (can’t run away/get lost/get snatched/etc) in mind.
