    4 teeeeth!

    October 19th, 2009

After a few more sleepless nights, Bru-crew has a couple new teeth on the top. They are not the middle two, however, but the left central and the lateral left incisors. I guess anything is possible but I really didn’t expect that and my overactive imagination started coming up with all these scenarios where there is some underlying problem with the right side of his mouth. Nerve issues! Orthodontry! Periodontry!

It’s like I’ve been practicing to be a parent my whole life with all the needless worrying. Now I can finally put it to a “practical” use. I’m so good at this.

    Hi! I used to Blog!

    October 9th, 2009

    OMG, you guys.

I want, desperately, to be good at this blogging thing. I want to keep you all abreast of Bruno’s goings on and practice my writing and be delightful and funny and moving and Holy Crap this kid never stops moving! And when he does take a nap and I can sit down at the computer, it takes me the entire length of said nap to check email and read other people’s blogs and find out “the News” (People.com) and not to mention Twitter!!! I know what you’re thinking, “Bethy, you can sit at the computer while the baby is awake.” But nuh-uh. Cause as soon as I have the computer on my lap, Bruno barrels over and tries to DESTROY. This kid. I’m still the apple of his eye and he wants to be nowhere other than within slapping distance from me. And he’s got a new tooth coming in soon (oh God, not soon enough) on the top this time so it’s proving to be challenging. Here are some things I’ve wanted to write about in the past month.

    • I am going to miss breastfeeding but it has become…difficult. I’ve mentioned his mobility, yes? He likes to practice while attached to my bosoms. That gets old as you might imagine. I am constantly pulling him back, turning him back over, laying him back down. In the morning, he’ll be lying next to me and then get up on all fours (Hands and FEET that is) and either start crawling across me, rocking front and back (usually headbutting me in the process) or unlatch and then try to kiss my face which really just means slobber/bite it. Despite his new teeth, I haven’t experienced any biting. He used to do that long ago when he was still all gum but hasn’t done it in months so I’m hoping he’ll keep that up. *knockingonwood* Here is an illustration.

    • He can crawl! For real! With his belly off the floor! He doesn’t do it all the time, but he can go clear across the room on his hands and knees. I figured he’d just skip over this phase and go straight to the walking.

This is him using his bouncy seat as a ramp. It has nothing to do with this section. Just demonstrates my stellar parenting.

    • Last Saturday, Bruno slept until 6am. He usually doesn’t sleep that late but when he does Hoagey’s alarm goes off at that time. As he doesn’t have an alarm set for Saturday, Bruno just woke up on his own and shouted once “Ah!”  to let us know he was awake. Ryan went to get him, turned on the light in the nursery and.. Bruno sat back down in his crib to play “books.”
      Thanks for the light!

      I'm just gonna read now.

How bout this caterpillar, right? He can pack away the strawberries!

    • And finally, a couple of weeks ago, I wrote a whole post about how when Bruno is weaned I will hopefully not feel so anxious to be away from him and about how the pressure to always be pumping when we’re apart is really starting to get to me. I really liked the post and thought I’d done an excellent job with it. I went to look for it later that day to show Hoagey….and my stupid phone ate it! ugh. Anyway, that’s it in a nutshell.

I hope you’ve all been well and have missed me terribly. I’ll hopefully prioritize better in the future but knowing me…

    See you in a month!

It will be cold out next time you hear from this lady!
